Interested in learning the ASP.NET MVC framework the easy way?

You might want to take a look at Oxite. It's the content management and blogging engine used to host the MIX conference website and online community.

In their own words:

Oxite is an open source, standards compliant, and highly extensible content management platform that can run anything from blogs to big web sites. We know this because it runs MIX Online.

It's designed to be developer friendly and at first glance looks like a very clean architecture and implementation. I've been toying with the idea of giving my blog a refresh and I have not yet had a chance to take the ASP.NET MVC Framework through it's paces. I think I'll download Oxite and take it on a test ride over the holidays. Stay tuned to hear how it goes.

Thanks for posting a balanced view, or at least as balanced as one could reasonably expect Smile  Makes for a good discussion.

For what it's worth, I haven't actually looked very deep into Oxite, but I have been following MVC over the past 6 months.  At the moment, I'm more curious about the evolution of Silverlight (both with Alexandria and v3) than MVC, but the two are extremely different beasts and solve delivering an application to the browser with different approaches.  Do you have links to applications or samples that you could consider a good reference implementation of MVC?  I bet that'd make for a hot blog post...

Kelly, I'm not familiar with YPL, but ASP.NET stands to be around for along time. I've got 16 years on the MS platform and dont' see any slow down until I retire (~15 years or so).

As far as how to get started, www.asp.net is a GREAT developer portal and hub for getting started. I also recommend getting involved in an open source project (www.codeplex.com) so that you can experience working on a project with a clear goal.
